Performing Arts
Music
Music and Performing Arts at The Elms is for everyone. We believe every child should experience the joy of music—through singing, playing, composing, or listening. Weekly music lessons for all ages build strong foundations for lifelong enjoyment. Co-curricular options help children explore, perform, and find their musical voice. Above all, we aim to instil a passion for music that stays with them for life.

Bands
Our popular rock bands give pupils the chance to collaborate, perform, have fun, while developing stage presence and exploring musical styles, learning to listen, lead and support.

Choral Tradition
Our choirs are open to all pupils, singing everything from traditional choral pieces to upbeat modern songs, and helping children build confidence, teamwork and a love of shared performance.

Concerts
We hold regular concerts throughout the year for all ability levels, whether it is children taking first steps or advanced musicians. We celebrate every effort with warmth and encouragement.

Individual Tuition
Individual lessons are available in almost any instrument, taught by specialist teachers who nurture each pupil’s musical potential and enjoyment.

Time to Shine
Music offers children a powerful outlet for self-expression and creativity, giving them the opportunity to share their talents in ways that might not always be visible in the classroom.

Ensembles
Pupils are also encouraged to join ensembles, where they experience the joy of playing together and develop valuable listening, coordination and collaborative skills.
ElmsFest
Our Summer ElmsFest, our own mini version of Glastonbury, is a much-loved highlight of the year, bringing the whole community together. The event captures the spirit of The Elms: inclusive, uplifting, and full of heart. With colourful and lively performances from all age groups, and enthusiastic support from family and friends, Elmsfest is a true celebration of expression, effort and the confidence that comes from being seen and heard.
Drama
Drama at The Elms is a vibrant and much-loved part of school life. Every child is encouraged to step into the spotlight and enjoy performing.
Weekly lessons begin in Nursery and continue throughout the school. Young children explore imaginative role-play, while older pupils take part in full-scale productions. They develop confidence, communication skills, and creativity in a supportive environment, and everyone is given the chance to shine and feel proud of their role. Frequent performances—plays, musicals, House drama competitions and informal showcases—build poise and self-belief. Above all, they have enormous fun along the way.

Inclusivity & Encouragement
Drama at The Elms is proudly inclusive, giving every pupil ,regardless of experience or self-assurance, the chance to take part and express themselves, and for their confidence to flourish.

Courage
Drama encourages pupils at The Elms to be brave, to step beyond their comfort zones, take on new roles, and perform with increasing poise and conviction in front of others.

Stage & Self Confidence
Drama helps pupils develop stage confidence, through encouraging them to speak clearly, perform boldly. In addition, they learn to trust in themselves and their abilities in front of an audience.

Comic Timing
Pupils develop comic timing alongside vital listening skills — learning to tune in to their fellow performers, respond with precision, and deliver lines with expression and humour that truly land with the audience.

Fabulous Productions
Our full-scale productions highlights of the school year, giving pupils the chance to experience the excitement of live theatre and take pride in performing in a polished, collaborative show.
