Our Approach
We recognise that the most meaningful learning often occurs in the moments of exploration and discovery along the way, and this is reflected in our curriculum. We embrace the process, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and the freedom to take unexpected paths. Whether it’s through a spontaneous idea or a new interest sparked during a lesson, we value the learning that happens when children engage deeply with the world around them, allowing them to revel in the adventure of learning.

So Much More
As well as covering everything in the National Curriculum, our approach in the younger years builds on the foundations of the Montessori curriculum, encouraging independence, exploration and a meaningful understanding of the world around them. Through hands-on activities, practical life skills and plenty of time to play and discover, children develop early confidence and curiosity. Our focus on concrete learning helps pupils gain a deeper understanding of numbers, language and the natural world, laying the groundwork for a lifelong thirst for knowledge.

Embracing Failure
At The Elms, we believe that embracing failure is a vital part of learning. By encouraging pupils to take risks, make mistakes and reflect on them, we help build perseverance, curiosity and confidence. In our supportive environment, children learn that setbacks are not the end, but the beginning of growth – key steps on the path to success and self-discovery.
