Minibus Driver
Job Title: Minibus Driver
Responsible to: Bursar
Location: The Elms, Colwall

General Purpose:
The Elms operates a daily minibus service to and from the school from various local locations with stops along the route. The Minibus Driver will be required to drive the school minibus on a pre-set route picking up/dropping off pupils.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- • Conduct driver safety checks on the vehicle before each driving session, ensuring that any faults are entered in the vehicle run sheet and reported to the Bursar
• Take care of passengers ensuring they are all accounted for, seated correctly, wearing seatbelts and that they behave appropriately during journeys
• Successfully complete MIDAS training
• Complete the vehicle logbook and run sheet for each journey
• Carry a mobile phone when on journeys. Check for parent messages at stops
• Use Whatsapp on your mobile phone to communicate with your passenger families, and use Live Location to allow parents to track the progress of the minibus
• Take due care of the vehicle and drive safely and responsibly at all times
• Should you be involved in an accident report it straight away and fill out accident report form
• Read and be familiar with the school Minibus and Vehicle Handbook and Policy
• Clean the minibus inside and out weekly
• Ensure the minibus is fuelled and ready for use (at least half a tank)
• Take the minibus for its regular checks, servicing, repairs and MOTs as required
• Attend INSET training at the start of each term
• Undertake First Aid training and refresher courses as required by the Bursar
• To maintain confidentiality in respect of school related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential and sensitive information
• Act at all times as an ambassador for the school and do not do anything to bring the school into disrepute during the performance of your dutiesWorking hours:Monday – Friday term time only (33 Weeks per year). Term dates can be found on our website.
Approximately 23.5 hours per week. However, drivers are welcome to apply to drive just the morning runs or just the afternoon runs.
The current shift pattern is as below, but is subject to change depending on demand.
• Morning Shift: 6am-8.30am (Monday-Friday) = 13.5 hours per week (12.5 hours driving plus additional hour for bus cleaning/fuelling
• Afternoon shift: 5.30pm – 8pm (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday*) = 10 hours per week (9 hours driving plus additional hour for bus cleaning/fuelling*NB. Exeat weekends (2 per term): buses leave school at 12.30pm
Remuneration:
- 14.28 per hour
Morning and evening runs: £11,074 per annum for a 33 week year/£922 per month
Morning runs only: £6,362 per annum for a 33 week year/£530 per month
Evening runs only: £4,712 per annum for a 33 week year/ £393 per monthSalaries are paid monthly over twelve months
Occasional overtime available at the standard hourly rate if pre-agreed with the BursarHolidays:
Holiday pay is incorporated into the enhanced hourly rate of pay.
Medical:
All employees of The Elms are required to complete a medical questionnaire and declaration on commencing employment with the school. The school reserves the right to carry out further investigations into your medical condition depending on the answers provided.
DBS Screening:
Employees of The Elms will need to undergo an enhanced DBS. The outcome of this screening may have an effect on the employment of that person.
Safeguarding:
The postholder will be required to undertake Safeguarding children training.
References:
Employment is subject to the receipt of two satisfactory references, one of which must be the present or most recent employer. Ideally, references should be obtained before interview in accordance with safer recruiting procedures.
